Dr. Nelson graduated with his dental degree from the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry in 1986. He practiced in group practice for 10 years and then decided to branch out and open his own office in 1996. Dr. Nelson built his practice on integrity and compassion for all of his patients and is proud that this philosophy has continued as his practice has grown throughout the years.
Dr. Nelson is married to his wife, Delana who was a hygienist at the office for many years. Delana and Dr. Nelson have 4 grown children: Mandy is a dentist in Las Vegas, Cassie is a RN in North Dakota, James is a relator in Rapid City, and Ty is a traveling RN. Dr. Nelson enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, and golfing. He also enjoys giving his time to great causes, such as the Donated Dental Program, The World’s Orphan Choir from Liberia and Peru, The Make a Wish Foundation and the countless other things dear to his heart.
Dr. Bury grew up in Rapid City and actually shadowed Dr. Nelson when first preparing for dental school. Dr. Bury attended the School of Mines and finished obtaining a degree in Human Biology at the University of Montana in Missoula. He received his dental degree after four years at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in Lincoln where he graduated with High Honors (Go Huskers!). Dr. Bury practiced previously in Winner, SD but jumped at the opportunity to come back to the Black Hills and partner with Dr. Nelson. Dr.Bury has always been impressed by how much Dr. Nelson and his team care for their patients and looks forward to continuing that tradition.
Dr. Bury enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is heavily involved in Continuing education including a study group with several dentists and dental specialists of the Black Hills. Dr. Bury participates with the Donated Dental Service program and the Make A Wish Foundation. Dr. Bury’s wife, Brittany, is a dental assistant and also works at the practice. Dr. Bury and Brittany have a three-year old daughter named Blaire. Dr. Bury enjoys fun activities like racquetball and frisbee.
Dr. Leonard is originally from Akron, Ohio where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in biology and a Masters degree in physiology before attending The Ohio State University for his Dental degree in 1977. He completed a general practice residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton Ohio before moving to South Dakota with the U.S. Public Health Services. He has been a practicing Dentist in Rapid City since 1980, and has completed continuing education in all aspects of dentistry.
Dr. Leonard has 3 children and maintains a vacation home in Phoenix, AZ. He enjoys his motorcycle, dirt biking and traveling.
